Being raised surrounded by animals (and still living with pets I've known all my life) has given me an extremely large soft spot towards animals. I believe my first career interest was in the field of animal biology and to grow up to be like those in the Animal Planet documentaries who care for orphaned or injured animals, eventually releasing them. Over the years, however, the spontaneity of animals and naturally existing habitats were slowly replaced in my mind by the habitat of a crisp, structured corporate world and maybe even a commendable degree to display to the world.
As a child, I also wanted to perhaps become a teacher. I would sit my little brother down and give him math problems, spelling tests, and I specifically remember teaching him to read Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? This is still an open option to me while I try and start to settle on a career pathway. For now though, I'll be labeled as undecided.
Wow Nicole I had no idea you had so many interest! Maybe you can try and incoorporate these ideas. For example you could start an animal rights coorporation where you teach people about endangered species or something along those lines. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteZookeepers care for animals and are often involved in educational programs. Have you considered applying for a job at Happy Hollow, just to try it out? Could be a way to do what Gigi suggests.
